What does hoxx have to offer me?
Hoxx offers a VPN Service which has different benefits for you such as being anonymous, preventing tracking, unblocking sites or streaming services, ensuring your privacy when using public Wi-Fi, hiding your location, having static IP, caching services to serve content faster and bypassing governmental restrictions.
Why is Hoxx free?
We can offer free accounts because we do also offer premium accounts, which are paid. For most clients it is enough to have a free account but some might need premium accounts. Our infrastructure is able to handle both types of accounts. We hope to convert free users to premium one day. This is our marketing strategy.
Do you use my bandwidth or my resources?
No, not at all. Several similar services do this. You should really avoid such services. Imagine if you give access to let other people surf through your IP address, you would be responsible for everything they do. The worse thing is that you donâ€™t even have control or a clue who is doing this. Hoxx is specially designed to avoid such dangerous scenarios. If you use such a VPN Provider, it is time to change to hoxx.
Which platforms do you currently support?
We are adding new platforms constantly, but we want to focus on browser market rather than special markets. Reason? Itâ€™s simple: if one provider needs to cover all areas, it would have more development, maintenance and support costs. All these costs need to be part of our pricing. We want to focus on the browser sector, in order to keep our prices as low as possible. Nowadays all you need is a browser in order to surf, stream, and play games.
Does, or can hoxx sniff out the personal information from my computer?
No, not at all. Our client software is built with Browser Development Packages (API); these packages are specially made to protect users like you. Since we want to focus only on the browser sector, we only offer browser add-ons. Browser add-ons cannot sniff or steal any personal information. Most other VPN providers send you .exe files as black boxes. You never know what is behind them. Browser add-ons have the biggest advantage to protect you from everything. Even if hoxx wanted, we could not steal any information. All areas are blocked to our scripts.
How can I make an anonymity test?
There are different anonymity tests our there. One of them can be found here. This service is basic and gives trustable information about anonymity.
What is the main difference between Free and Premium accounts?
The main difference is speed and support but there are several more differences between them. You should check our pricing page in order to compare differences. Sometimes even small features matter. We guarantee speed for premium accounts but not for free accounts. Free accounts have limited support and limited quota.
I get warning from my antivirus software, why?
Please check other software and add-ons, because hoxx add-ons do not have any right to access private information. So technically, there should not be any warning about our scripts. Even though this is true, there are many antivirus software companies out there. You never know what their code is and how they classify a threat. If you are sure that hoxx caused this warning is, please contact our support team immediately.
Why is hoxx safer and faster than Tor?
There are many possible answers but the Tor network is against the law in many countries and many criminals are hosted inside that network. We do not recommend using the Tor network at all.
What is the difference TorBrowser and Hoxx VPN ?
Torbrowser is specifically made to surf anonymously on the network. Hoxx is made to give you other benefits. Hoxx lets you keep your favorite browser and the ability to choose the country to surf with. Torbrowser is a threat for many people, since it is a black box. Even if there are source codes, who studies them?
Do i need to make any configurations in order to use hoxx ?
No, all you need is to have a valid confirmed hoxx account and our add-on(s). Then you are good to go. The rest is intuitive, no special configurations are needed.
What is my commitment / responsibility ?
Comply with all applicable laws and regulations in connection with your use of this service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your security credentials, activation codes and passwords.
How often can I change servers ?
You can change servers an unlimited number of times. You could use a new server every time you connect. There arenâ€™t any limits.
Do you block certain ports ?
Yes we do, this is in order to prevent you from being attacked. Certain ports such as 25,465, which is used by spammers, will be blocked. Blocked ports may vary from time to time since we are constantly updating and adapting to protect you.
Do you block the SMTP Port ?
Yes we do, SMTP port(s) are being blocked to prevent spamming.
Do you offer an Affiliate program?
Currently, no, but we are planing to one offer next year.
Why do i need hoxx?
In order to use benefits we have detailed in previous question, you will need hoxx add-on on your computer.
How do you protect me?
We protect you in several different ways; first of all, we try to filter virus or malicious websites for you and your family. The second thing we do is to encrypt your communication from end-to-end! This means that everything you do is encrypted, even in areas with public Wi-Fi. Under normal circumstances you are only semi protected but thanks to hoxx, you will enjoy full protection. The reason you are normally only semi-protected is that you usually trust your ISP, but in public Wi-Fi areas, you really should not trust your Internet provider. We also prevent several advertising networks from tracking you and your habits. These are only a few and the obvious ones. Hoxx is here to protect you and your family.
How do you make money?
We try to convert our free clients to premium ones. Premium clients have different rights and speeds than free ones. Having a free account does not necessarily mean that you surf more slowly than premium account users but under high traffic conditions, premium accounts will not suffer at all. Please compare free and premium accounts under the Pricing section to understand all the benefits.
Can i use free account for business?
Clearly yes, you can use it for commercial purposes, even if you have an internet-cafÃ©, you can use hoxx.
What information does the hoxx add-on send to backend?
All we send is your login, password, several settings you made inside add-on and some error messages to detect proxy failure. We do not send anything more than that.
Can I use speed test?
Absolutely! You can use any speed test service you want to. Please note: for technical reasons, you may have different speeds from your local computer to our Proxy servers. Almost every country has a good connection to the United States but not many countries have fast connection to China. You will need to find the fastest server for your location. Speed is not constant; it might change a lot during the day. This is not necessarily caused by hoxx; you, your ISP, your uplink, uplinks uplink or any router in between you and our routers might be causing it. We recommend using American servers. They should be the fastest for most countries.
Can I use hoxx with other VPN Providers?
Theoretically yes, but practically it isnâ€™t recommended because you would be over-protected, but twice the 100% protection is not necessary. This setup would slow you down rather than if you were with a single VPN provider.
Can I use hoxx on a Virtual Machine?
Yes you can. Hoxx add-ons can run on any supported platforms. Virtual Machine is also welcome.
How can I find out which server is the fastest within the hoxx network?
This is difficult to answer. Speed is relative. It depends on your location, our VPN location, all routers in between you, daily or weekly trends, weekends, special days etc. Using American servers might be the fastest solution overall. Of course, you could also do a speed test to find fastest server, but this is a time-consuming search.
Does hoxx add-on harm my computer if it is left unused?
Not at all, if unused, the hoxx add-on is sleeping and does not interact in any way. When not being used, it is simply passive.
My preferred server does not unblock my target site, what can I do?
Use another VPN server. There isnâ€™t a single server which unblocks your target site. Almost all our servers are able to unblock a target site.
Can I analyze or decompile your software?
Feel free to analyze our code but you are not allowed to modify it or reuse it. Also see our Terms and Conditions.
Why is Hoxx faster than most other VPN providers?
This is because we keep everything simple without compromising your security and privacy. We do use special VPN software, which isnâ€™t used by other providers. Our solution is much faster than all others. There are only few competitors that offer similar services to ours.
Do you have download limits?
For our FREE accounts we do have a daily quota, for premium accounts, there is no limit.
Where can i use hoxx?
Very simply, we allow anyone from anywhere, from every single country to use hoxx without restrictions. Many of our other competitors block certain countries We do not.
Where are hoxx servers located?
Their locations vary; see this map to see the locations. Our servers are physically in each of the countries listed. We are constantly adding new servers every week. The locations change from time to time.
Can I connect from multiple browsers and computers at same time?
Yes you can, but it is not recommended to share your credentials with other people, simply because you have no control which sites they visit. They might visit illegal sites and you could be charged for them.

What if you change terms and conditions, will I be notified?
Yes, you will be emailed about modifications.
What is a blacklisted website and why is it blacklisted?
We do blacklist certain websites in order to protect you as our valuable client. These websites are illegal or treated as illegal by many countries. The list of blacklisted websites changes often. Most likely you will never see one of them because there are billions of websites and the possibility that you would want to visit that website is slight. Imagine this; you follow a link and land on a page that is an illegal site and your ISP would be logged on there forever. We protect you in order to avoid such scenarios.
How can I see list of blacklisted websites?
This isnâ€™t easy; we are constantly changing the list. You will see a special page in your browser if we have blocked that website. We do not maintain a public list.
Does hoxx save all proxy logs?
Yes, we do save logs for a certain period of time to prevent abuse of our network. We know 99% of all our clients have legitimate intentions by surfing through our VPN network; we cannot let 1% destroy our and your service because they have illegal intentions. We have a strict illegal tracking policy.
Does hoxx work with legal authorities?
Yes we do, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to open a support ticket with the details. We will work with you if your logs are good enough to track down.
Why is it faster to submit hoxx abuse report than contacting our uplinks?
If you contact our uplinks, this will go through some procedure, which can take long time. We recommend using our abuse form to submit abuse. We promise to anwer quickly.
Can I participate in illegal forums ?
No, please do not. We donÂ´t want an illegal activity client-base.
Do you allow the sending of emails through VPN ?
Please, no emails through VPN. We are blocking this action to prevent our IP is being blocked. We do serve VPN for web, not for email. Of course you can use web email services to send emails, this is allowed and not being blocked.
What is considered illegal?
This is a broad topic. Something that is illegal or a threat is defined differently by every country. To overcome this difficulty we base ourselves in the western-culture, especially the United States, Germany and Turkey.
What if I visit illegal websites?
Since there are millions of illegal websites out there, we cannot know that you have visited an illegal website. We will only act if some legal authority contacts us and requests logs about your visit. Under normal circumstances, you donâ€™t have to worry about it because visiting it by mistake is what millions of people do every day, just by following the wrong link. The main point is that you should not participate, interact or continue to visit that site or multiple sites. We donâ€™t want you get into trouble.
Can I use hoxx for illegal activities and be sure not to get caught?
No not at all, we want to protect our 99% clients from the 1% of illegal intentioned users. This is in the 99%s favor. We will strictly track abusers, spammers and people with illegal intentions.
How can I submit abuse report?
Simply fill our Abuse Report form. Make sure to include enough evidence and logs. Never forget to mention the correct time, time zone and target websites. The more details you give, the better. You could also mail us everything at email@example.com, but sometimes such emails are blocked from anti-virus services. Submitting everything through the web is the safest way because this action opens a ticket directly inside our support backend.
How fast is hoxx abuse team notified?
Submitting an abuse form opens a ticket inside our support backend, our team will see it as soon as possible.
Do you allow Torrent / btSync / Emule / Amule?
No we do not, these are illegal networks. Our community needs to be kept clean to save your rights.
Do you allow Tor?
No we do not, Tor is illegal.
How can I get the fastest support?
The fastest way to support is to create a support ticket, in order to create a support ticket you need a valid hoxx account, sign in to your account and click to Submit Ticket menu option. This way the request is faster than email. If you want to attach something, you may send us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
I found a bug, how can I submit to you?
Please create a support Ticket, see previous question for details. We will try to solve and respond to you as soon as possible. Please include as many details as possible.
How can I be sure that my support request was received and processed?
If you have to submit a support ticket or send an email, you will receive a seperate email about support request. This email is kind of receipt.
Which languages do you support for contacting support team?
We do speak English, German and Turkish language. Feel free to contact us in one of these languages.
How long should i expect to wait to get the first response?
Typical response time is 6-24h from the submission of the support request. You will get an email about received support request.
Do you offer phone support ?
Currently no, this would balloon our costs and we would need to increase our prices. We want to offer clean, simple, robust solutions to all our clients
I donÂ´t see Hoxx icon anymore.
This might be for different reasons; the hoxx add-on might be uninstalled or simply disabled. Type chrome://extensions/ into your browsers address bar and try to find the hoxx add-on. If you canÂ´t find it, you can simply reinstall it. If you can find it in your list, then enable it to see the icon.
I cannot login.
Check to see if you have the latest version of our add-on. Try to login using our web backend, if it works, then it should also work with Chrome add-on. If it does not try to upgrade your add-on. If it still does not work, please submit a support ticket. We will look more closely into the issue.
The Hoxx icon is gray
A gray hoxx icon means that you are not connected to the VPN network. The Hoxx add-on can stay in standby mode until you activate it. Left click the gray icon, login (if required) and select one of the VPN servers in order to activate the hoxx VPN network. Having a gray icon simply shows you that you are surfing through your local IP address, not through hoxx VPN network. This is an indication, not a problem or a bug.
Do I need to submit phone number?
No, this is an optional field.
Do you share my information with third parties?
Absolutely not, no one, except Hoxx services will be able to see your information. We do not share or sell your information.
How do you use my personal information?
We use it for service purposes only, to contact you and to be able to address you by name. We also use your details for hoxx internal promotional reasons. You can unsubscribe from that list at any time.
How can I change my email address?
Currently this isnâ€™t supported, once your account has been verified with a certain email address, you cannot change its email address. Please define a stable and reliable email account.
Can I share my Account with other people?
You can, but you should not. Just think; you donâ€™t have any control over other people. You donâ€™t want to be blamed for other peopleâ€™s actions. Your account holds your identity, in case of abuse or legal issues, you will be the first target.
Can I share my account across different computers?
If they are your personal computers, you can do this. It is important that every person has his or her own hoxx account in order to prevent abuse.
Can I close my account ?
Yes you can do this, simply submit a support ticket to our team, they will close your account.
My account is banned, what can I do?
We only ban if we have strong evidence of abuse or illegal activity. We do not release banned accounts, sorry about that.
My account is temporarily blocked, what can I do?
Blocking your account temporarily only blocks your account for a certain period of time. For example, if you have used up your free account quota, our system will block your account for a certain period of time. You will receive an email about such actions from our system.
Why do you need to verify my email address?
We need a reliable way to contact you, in order to achieve this, we need to verify email address.
I havenÂ´t received my account verification email, what can I do?
Use Lost Password to have a new email sent to you. That email will have all the details for your verification. Make sure to check your junk and spam folders and search for email coming from hoxx.com hostname.
Do I need to use my account regularly to keep my account open?
We do periodically delete ununsed accounts to release resources. If you have not used your account in the last 180 days, we may close your account for inactivity. Later, you can register for new account whenever you need it. We do not delete Premium accounts for inactivity.
Will closing account wipe my logs?
Most of them yes, we keep for a certain period of time, just in case we receive an abuse report. After this period, we will wipe your logs.
How can I pay ?
We do offer different methods of payment. Most of our clients pay via PayPal, but we do also have other payment partners. They may change from time to time. Please refer to our pricing and payment pages for our most recent payment partners.
Can I transfer my Premium account to another email address?
We do not support this yet. We may support it in future.
Do you offer money-back policy?
Yes we do, this policy may change from time to time, please refer to our pricing and payment page for our most recent policies. Our money-back policy is described in our terms and conditions .
How can I cancel my account ?
You do not need to do anything special. We do not have subscription-based accounts, and that means that your premium account will be cancelled automatically at end of the pay period.
Do you store my payment details such as credit card or account information?
No, we do not. We do not have any of your payment details. We are working with trusted third-party payment processors. You will deal with them and make the payment to them. We simply get paid from them. We do not charge you.
Can I share my Premium Account?
Please do not; you would not have any control over other people and their surf behavior. You donâ€™t want to get your account banned for illegal activities caused by other people with whom you share your account.
Can I cancel the subscription at any time?
You can cancel your subscription at the end of the subscription period.
Can I get a refund due to slow speed?
No, because slowness is relative, we do offer dozens of servers and they all offer you the same service, you can simply change servers to achieve faster speed.
How do you ensure my privacy?
We do block many illegal networks and botnets. We do encrypt your connection from browser to target with 4096-bit encryption. Our service is military trade safe.
Does hoxx use any external software which we donÂ´t have control over?
No, all you need is a browser add-on in order to use hoxx vpn services.
